EPA Mountaintop Removal action not panning out

WYMT News reports:

“After what many thought was a devastating hit on the coal mining industry, the EPA clarifies its ruling on mountaintop removal permits.

Officials with the Environmental Protection Agency released a statement on Wednesday saying they are not holding or halting any mining permit applications.”

Not good news at all. I saw a local paper yesterday which reported that several of the Kentucky mining permits have actually gone through since the EPA released its first statement. I’ll see if I can find it sometime today, in which case I will transcribe it into a blog post.

More on this later.

  1. This is quite a up-to-date info. I think I’ll share it on Twitter.
